How to Counter Mystic Mine september 2022

Mystic Mine introduced to TCG in Dark Neostrorm set in 2019. it is a field spell with the following effect:

"If your opponent controls more monsters than you do, your opponent cannot activate monster effects or declare an attack. If you control more monsters than your opponent does, you cannot activate monster effects or declare an attack. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if both players control the same number of monsters: Destroy this card."

this card lock many combo deck that heavily relies on monsters to work. This card can be used in a deck that heavily use spells and traps as a win condition like burn deck. so how to counter Mystic Mine?

there are two things you need to do to counter Mystic Mine. first is what kind of cards needed to Counter Mystic Mine. Second is How to use it.

Here is top 5 cards you can use to counter Mystic Mine:

#1 Galaxy Cyclone

Galaxy cyclone can be used as a bait to remove 1 of opponent's set card. then the next turn, the graveyard's effect can be used to destroy 1 face-up spell or trap your opponent's control. Galaxy cyclone Graveyard effect cannot be negated by cards like solemn judgment or Dark Bribe because its not activation of cards but an effects. therefore, this card a great way to remove 2 of your opponent's cards by just 1 card.

#2 Unending Nightmare

Unending Nightmare is a continous trap that can destroy 1 face-up spell or traps on the field by the cost 1000LP. its effect can be used again in the same turn. making it the best card to destroy opponent's backrow. But becareful with cards like solemn judgment since its activation can be negated. but once this card activation resolve face-up on the field, it's effect cannot be negated later by solemn judgement because it's not cards activation but effect's activation.

#3 harpie's feather Duster

this card is a mass removal to any backrow. if your opponent play more than 2 set spell and trap, this card is the best option to deal with it. what makes this card good is because it has no cost or restriction.

#4 Heavy Storm Duster

Heavy Storm Duster can destroy 2 spell or traps on the field but it has a restriction that the player cannot conduct their battle during the turn they activate this card. If you want to use it, the best time to use it is during opponent's End phase. The number this card can destroy has similarity with Twin Twister. But twin twister needed you to discard 1 and the possibility of opponent's having Magic Drain similar cards in their side deck. Heavt Storm Duster is slower but has higher chance to win againts Mystic Mine.

#5 Ballista Squad

Yes Ballista Squad. This card effects can tribute 1 of your monster as a cost then destroy 1 cards your opponent's control. Pure Mystic Mine Player usually use Ojama+rivalry to lock their opponent so the player cannot summon anything to their filed. The best way to use it is by link summoning 1 LIGHT Beast from your extra-deck by using ojama token. then tribute the link to destroy 1 card. making your field empty so the Mystic Mine will destroy itself during the end phase while get rid of 1 another card your opponent's control.

#1 Side more

if you are playing 40 cards deck and you side only 3 cards that can remove Mystic Mine. you have very lower chance to draw it. and if you lucky, your cards will be negated because Mystic Mine player always set at least 1 counter trap. so the best way to play around it is having more than your opponent. 6 cards atleast, the more you side the more your chance of winning againts mine.

#2 Patient

Pure Mystic Mine playstyle is unlike combo deck, it doesnt have any change to their field by the turn passes. so dont too rush to remove their cards. gather at least 2 to 3 cards that can destroy their backrow during 1 turn. Pure Mystic Mine player also lack of Monster so it is easy to OTK them. Especially if they already activated cards like solemn judgment, making it easir to OTK.

#3 increase your chance to search

Having the right card anytime you need is what every duelist want during their Duel. If you lack of searcher in your deck, you need to consider one. the higher your chance to get your cards, the more you can win.
